Cognitive Behavioral Therapy

Individuals in CBT learn to identify and correct problematic behaviors by applying a range of different skills that can help end substance abuse. Cognitive behavioral strategies are based on the theory that learning processes play a critical role in the formation of negative behavioral patterns.

Trauma-Informed Care

This program goes into the underlying issues of addiction based on trauma throughout one’s lifetime. We believe unresolved trauma is highly likely to cause relapse to drugs & alcohol. Caring for individuals and helping them work through their traumatic history is an important part of our holistic program.

Individual Counseling

Through its emphasis on short-term behavioral goals, individualized counseling helps the patient develop coping strategies and tools to abstain from maintaining abstinence from drugs & alcohol. Individual counseling is part of the program for drug & substance abuse and dual-diagnosis. Individual drug counseling also addresses related areas of impaired functioning—such as mental health, employment status, legal issues, and family relations.

Long-term Case Management

A comprehensive, long-term aftercare program is available to those in recovery and those who have moved out of intensive treatment. Each individual is given a recovery advocate to follow their progress, engage in phone calls, and order random drug & alcohol screenings. The recovery advocate works with families to build safe relationships and creates useful documentation for family, employers, and legal issues.

Five Year Recovery Plans

We work with individuals and their support system to create lasting recovery plans. This includes programs such as case management (recovery advocate program) and the attendance of 12-step meetings and home groups. This also includes scheduling meetings with additional doctors, therapists, and counselors and setting the right boundaries for a healthy recovery.

Access to 12-Step Meetings

12-Step meetings such as Alcoholics Anonymous and Narcotics Anonymous provide not only a “one day at a time” mindset for overcoming substance abuse, but also provide community and fellowship. Set in downtown Palm Springs, our facilities are within walking distance of many 12-Step Meetings. We provide private transportation to these and many other meetings within Palm Springs and Coachella Valley.

Non-12-Step Groups and Meetings

Additionally, we provide access to non-12 step groups and meetings such as SMART recovery, mental health support groups, and meditation based workshops and meetings.

Family Recovery

Our addiction treatment team works with family members as they reach a new place of acceptance and understanding with their loved one.

About Ken Seeley Rehab: Health and Mindfulness Programs for Substance Abuse

man about to workout after learning about Ken Seeley Rehab and their exercise therapy Part of achieving recovery is realizing that changes must be made with one’s lifestyle. Personal health, fitness, mindfulness, and awareness all play a major role in long term success. Learn about Ken Seeley Rehab and how we offer many health and mindfulness-based activities, including:

Daily Gym Sessions

Daily sessions at the gym will reduce and relieve stress, rebuild self-confidence and self-esteem, quiet the mind, and positively alter neurochemistry.

Yoga

Yoga provides a sense of well-being in its nurturing effect on the body and mind. The exercise produces natural endorphins while the postures and stretches relieve stress and tension throughout the body. Focusing on the breath and body position allows the mind to find calm and peace. All of these aspects are essential for a person in every stage of recovery.

Meditation

Meditation rewires critical pathways in the brain essential for patients in early recovery. It improves self-awareness, self-reflection, and stress management. Practicing meditation allows one to connect with their thoughts and reflect on their emotions to help reduce relapse. With strong mindfulness and meditation, addicts and alcoholics can observe their everyday situations and react to them safely without the use of drugs or alcohol.

Hiking

Hiking trails nearby provide open space, fresh air, and breathtaking views. Hike into Indian Canyon amongst groves of native California palm trees. Walk along the massive boulders and craggy cliffs of the nearby ridge. You could also take a trip up to the Pacific Crest Trail for sweeping views of Palm Springs and the entire Coachella Valley.

Mindfulness-Based Relapse Prevention Workshops

Mindfulness has been described as “paying attention in a particular way: on purpose, in the present moment, and non-judgmentally.” It’s a centering practice similar to meditation, except with mindfulness the person in recovery learns to become aware of their emotions and triggers, not just to ignore them.

Life Coaching

Beyond therapy, life coaching is available for those who need extra help. This could be learning daily life skills such as laundry and food preparation. It could also mean working on resumes and job applications. There’s also the option of focusing on what to do next in their recovery.

Food Preparation and Meal-Planning Assistance

Learning to prepare and cook meals within your budget is an important part of finding stability in recovery. The staff is available for grocery shopping, planning week by week meals, and teaching you to eat the right foods for a strong body and mind.
